AP 스쿨 명예의 전당은 대학 진학 준비를 위한 심화 학습 프로그램인 AP(Advanced Placement) 과정 운영 및 학생 성과를 기반으로 칼리지보드(College Board)가 선정하는 상이다. 그중 플래티넘 위드 액세스는 가장 높은 등급으로, 학업 우수성뿐 아니라 교육 기회의 형평성까지 충족한 학교에 부여된다.
이번 선정은 콜럼버스 고등학교가 대학 진학 중심의 학업 환경을 조성하고, 모든 학생이 도전적인 학업에 접근할 수 있도록 기울인 노력이 공식적으로 인정받았음을 의미한다.
플래티넘 등급 획득을 위해서는 다음의 엄격한 기준 충족이 요구된다:
- 대학 진학 문화 확산: 2024년 졸업 예정자의 80% 이상이 고등학교 재학 중 최소 한 과목의 AP 과정을 수강하며 조기 대학 학습 경험 기회를 얻었다.
- 경제적 부담 완화 및 접근성 확대: AP 과정을 수강한 학생 중 절반 이상이 AP 시험에서 3점 이상을 획득하여 대학 학점을 미리 취득함으로써 학부모의 교육비 부담 경감에 기여했다.
- 대학 준비 역량 강화: 학생들은 고등학교 재학 중 다수의 AP 과목을 수강하도록 권장되며, 특히 9학년 또는 10학년 때 최소 한 과목 이상을 이수하도록 독려되고 있다.
